Larry Nichols Selected President & CEO of Oakland Commerce Bank

FARMINGTON HILLS, Michigan: December 27, 2006: The board of directors of Oakland Commerce Bank is pleased to announce the selection of veteran Michigan banker Larry R. Nichols as president and chief executive officer of the bank. He also has been elected to the bank’s Board of Directors. Nichols has more than 30 years of comprehensive financial services experience.
"Larry is a highly experienced banker with proven leadership skills in strategic planning, lending, marketing, and team building,” said Bruce Thomas, president of Capitol Bancorp’s Eastern Regions. “He is a very talented commercial lender and understands the importance of building relationships with clients. His skill set and knowledge of the local market make him an excellent complement to the Oakland Commerce team."
Most recently, Nichols was senior vice president and manager of business banking for Huntington National Bank in Troy. Nichols began his banking career with Genesee Bank/NBD Bank in Flint, and was eventually appointed first vice president and head of NBD’s Product Support Group in Detroit. He also has held executive management positions with Bank One (now JP Morgan Chase) and National City Bank.
Nichols earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. He has also served as a college instructor and guest lecturer. Active in the community, Nichols is on the advisory boards for the Oakland University School of Business Administration and the UM-Flint School of Management. He has also been active with the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Oakland Commerce Bank, founded in 1992, specializes in providing a full line of products and services for small to medium-sized businesses and to individuals.
